2025 is Here (New US Jobs Inside)

Hi friends.

2024 was a helluva ride.

I got sick. Got better. Sick again. In weekly treatments.

I’m battling my anxiety as my business hangs in the balance.

US clients continue to cut back spending on hiring developers and that cost cutting has had an immense impact on my business over the past 12 months. Longer term contracts has shortened into term engagements of 3 months. Frankly, my lowest months have been letting friends in Brazil go from jobs I placed them in.

It fucking sucks.

Be that as it may, there are tons to be optimistic about.

Direct hire jobs continue to be on the rise.

More US startups are hiring Brazilian talent directly and not through a nearshore staffing model made famous by Turing and Baires Dev.

What does that mean for you?

Hopefully more job security and the ability to contribute as a core member of the team.

Better pay. With the staffing model out of the way, there are less agencies in the way taking a chunk of the money that should be going to developers directly.

Finally, I am grateful.

Grateful for the community of Brazil who has embraced a fat, white guy from California.

I have gotten to know many of you personally and will do whatever I can to support you.

Update on Lily Community

I hoped to have the active community online by now.

I am still evaluating platforms that will make it easy for everyone to access, including myself. The biggest challenge is finding a provider that can process payments from Brazil.

The reality is I want to build something I am proud of but finding the time to do it right is proving challenging.
